Doh!

Post by Karl_CLCoupe »

Well, the unfortunate happened last night...

I had my first prang  . I'm looking at £120 to remove the dents in my passenger side rear panel, and the cost of some new trim.

Image

Fortunately no other car was involved, however a gatepost and a Polo_CL Coupe were harmed during the making.

Conclusion: I hate narrow driveways and narrow streets that dont allow you to have a good swing into the drive, as every Tom, Dick and Harry decides to park on the road, even though they have a perfectly useable drive. Still atleast I got it over and done with, and the damage isn't too bad. Just peed off at myself.

Karl.

Ah, don't worry, it's all part and parcel of owning and driving a car...hope you are alright and it doesn't put you off.

I smashed my rear drivers side lens a week after getting my first Polo...gutted I was...

Try to look on the bright side of everything, and in this case id say thanks god i wasnt hurt or hit another car.

One of my mates hit another car a year ago and he's had a lot of hassle about it with insurance repairs quibbling etc. Now he always says if he ever thinks he is gonna crash he's gonna swerve from all cars and hit a wall or bush.

It's always a bugger when this happens, however i think you feel better knowing who did it and on what than coming back to your car finding damage on it and not knowing the bastard who did it.

Remember when i reversed into a pillar in a car park, not too bad (small scrape on arch) but boy was i pissed off, got over it quickly laugh about how it happened now. however the git who dented the side of a car with swinging a door in to it also leaving white paint stripes i still get quite angry about.

£120 isn't such a bad price to pay for repair either :)

1. prang car
2. get verbal
3. ....... banned from the forum by accident? :D

dont beat yourself up much mate, for a first-month booboo that's nothing :D - i've done almost as much after 4-5 years driving and more than six months in the 1.0, reversing out of a mate's acid-trip driveway :D

Hell, my mate is on his 6th car in 4 years of driving.. He's only sold 2 of them to anywhere other than the scrapy!

Also, if you think about it you were better off hitting the gatepost than the other cars - at least you don't have to claim for this and screw your insurance for the next 3 years

Chin up dude, that's nothing.

You should see what my first accident looked like! My poor MK3 was wrecked!

Think of this as a valuable lesson. You're not hurt, the damage is minimal, you'll know next time, and you can still drive your car at least!

I was lucky in my accident, what with parcel shelves complete with 6x9s, and a window coming into contact with my head. Count yourself lucky too :)

Never mind mate, it's bound to happen while you're a new driver, and at least you've got your bad luck out of the way quickly and with minor damage - personally I'm getting worried - it's been over a year and I've yet to hit something (save a couple of grass banks doing some slightly dubious three point turns.. got half a mudflap missing and a scraped front bumper..), I just know when I do it's going to be a nasty one to make up for lost time :?

Atleast its made your mind up about arch trims karl...now you could cover the dents up with them.

Atleast your not hurt dude, you can't knock the dents out of a person.
