well they are original VW OE sports shocks taht are on sports models.

i've put those 40mm apex springs on yesterday and they look great.

handling seems to have gotten abit better also. i have 17's and its sitting about 20mm from arch to tyre now, instead of alot more.

it gives it a great sporty look, but if you're after the really low look, id say defo 50mm at least.

Does anybody have any experience on ABT lowering springs (-35mm)? Not exactly cheap here in Helsinki anyway. I was offered those for 510â‚¬ (including installation etc.). Are those worth it?

i paid Â£85 for my apex springs, ABT cant be too much more and you would be looking at around Â£80 on average to fit.
so that would be around â‚¬240. so i would say you're getting ripped off with 510!!!

Yikes...... ABT I reckon you are paying for the name.....

The trick with any lowering springs is to make sure they are progressive springs - easy to tell progressive springs have a varying distance between the coils so the close ones compress easily and teh ones that are far apart don't compress so easily

Result - you get a low look (without losing fillings on M ways) yet a much better handling car cos after the initial body roll the car stiffens up and runs round the corner like it's on rails
