polo PROPER SMOKED REAR LIGHTS
Hey
I have a mk4 polo 16v 97
It has the usual tinted rear lamps on a 16v
But i am looking for some proper smoked ones (no orange at all!!!) just black!
Anyone have any ideas on where to get them?
I have tried the usual places eg ECP, GSF, EBAY and loads of online sites, just cant find them anywhere!!! but i know someone does `em!
Oh and i don t wanna be spraying the ones i already got or anything like that!
cheers
martin

Why not - I've seen some awsome looking lighting effects out of a can!!!!..... OK if it's cos you don't want to ruin the 16V ones buy a set of std ones of fleabay - they never seem to fetch more than £5.00 for a pair if they sell at all and experiment on themmartin9aj wrote:Oh and i don t wanna be spraying the ones i already got or anything like that!

Im probably fussy but im not looking for lexus style...Lexus style lights for lexus' only in my opinion
I may try self tinting them, Iv just seen a couple of poorly down ones about and its putting me off as i dont want the car looking tacky!
Anyone know if completly blacking the rear lenses is legal?

Did you need to change the bulbs or are they strong enough to shine through as normal?cyhliu wrote:I tinted mine too with some spray, I didn't give it too many coats so that it appeared more smoked rather than black and then gave a couple of coats of lacquer on top to give it the shiney OEM look! (the lacquer also helps darken the smoked effect).
Hey Si_GTI,
Should we move this post over to the GTI section? he he he, no, because I only gave it a few coats, it's not that dark that you cannot see the lights.
I only wanted a subtle smoked tint so wasn't too heavy handed on the tint spray, if you go darker you may be able to get away with it at least you can see the lights when they are on, if not then you will need to get some brighter lights.

Hey carmadaaron, that guys Polo in that pic with the black lights looks mad
I was thinking of getting the Black rear lexus style lights for my MK4 Polo but they're currently out of stock, im wondering wether it would be cheaper and maybe even workout the same if i just somehow painted my rear orange and the rest of the rear lights black.
Does anybody have any recommendations? Should i buy the rear lexus style black lights or just paint them up?
Also, how hard would it be to paint them, they would need to be done on the outside of the lights is that right?
If anybody has anymore info or tips they could share with me regarding this it would be much appreciated. The orange lights on my Black polo make it look tacky
Thanks!
