The ballasts are nothing to do with self leveling. But the washer is madatory, except it seems for the odd lexus that doesn't. - go figure.

If you are going to retrofit to the GTi you will need to change the headlight units for the gas projector ones. They are about 160 per side, and I have fitted them to a 16V. If you just get a H7 upgrade its ok, but looks obviously illegal which it is.

If you want to know the exact law governing HID lighting then PM me. Basically, everything you can think of is illegal except a hella certified upgrade, or OEM. and even some OEM installations are a bit dodgy.

They provide the 27,000 volts you need to start the arc and the 70 or so you need to keep it there. Its not easy to get a stable arc, you need lots of gismos.
