Help needed, i have a mk2 coupe, but need to know how to fit

Hi guys

I have mk2 coupe and have been given the chance to gut a mk3 saloon, but me beig a girl and me first time doing me own carl, i aint to sure how to get it all out and refit it

OK, me list

MK3 saloon centre console, how to get it out and then refit into a mk2 coupe

Mk3 saloon front bumper and back aswel, how do i get them off and then make them fit me mk2 coupe?

And also the mk3 saloon front gril and head lights, how do i get them to work on me mk2 coupe, all help would be really good thanx

i asked for help and i didnt say that me bloke would be doing it, i need to know for myself, i may be female dont mean im thick!

Anyway - hats off to you lass for wanting to do it yourself

I can't advise you having never done that but my advice would be grab a Haynes manual for starters

and i know im female but i got al the help that i need and im a starter and all. but im getting there.

And yea ill private message ya me details, etc u want the money fr the postage how can i give that to ya

ps u know the zebra style bucket seats on a mk2, that g backs and forwards anf tilt right bk to the floor on the base etc

would they sell for much?

Centre console: You'll need the rest of the dashboard as well

Or you could just get a mk2 centre console, you'll probably find one at a scrappy somewhere. If you take the whole dashboard, to save you the hours of searching that I did to find out how to remove it, it's held in place with two bolts that go through to the engine compartment, to the right of the battery and the left of the fusebox, as well as the other bolts in the cabin which are pretty easy to find. I've not fitted a mk3 dash myself, but it's doable, although you need to devise a way to support the lower bits of it as the mk2 supports are the wrong size.

Mk3 grill / headlights are going to need some major work.. you'll need to weld in a mk3 slam panel and you'll need a pair of mk3 wings, and I'd be suprised if there wasn't more.. bear in mind that the mk3 light setup has the indicators wrapping around the front of the wings whereas the mk2 just has them stuck in the bumper.. might be easier to get a grille and headlamps from an early mk2 derby if you want the square lights.

Mk3 bumper, I believe polokris has done this, he might just be the guy to ask

Where is it and when - to be honest it's doubtfull due to commitments on my other project car engine has been in for two weks and I haven't got round to starting it yet and I have to get it finished by Feb 28th!!!!

If you ever get to talk to my better half she can diagnose engine problems as well as I can - didn't take long to train her either - female has it's advantages.....

Don't worry about the postage - if I never see it it won't be the end of the world and if you ever no longer need it pass it on to someone else who needs it for what it cost you - ie gift it

Not sure about the zebra style - I had the tartan effect in my MKII Coupe S but I'm sure one of the other MKII guys will help you out

well i went to a scrappy and got a whole mk3 hatch saloon for 70 quid, and thats meant so far i have taken the door cards, windows and all that lot, seats as they were fuckie,

they had vw written all them sad i know, and i have all the centre console and dash hun, ive got the bumpers and lights and grilles etc

so just needed ideas on how to fit

Nope I could iron my own shirt at 16, sew on buttons, darn socks and cook a damn good spag bol

but I'd rather someone else did all of the above so I can spend quality time in the garage or under a car

Penny drops and I think what you are talking about is the sports seats from the late Coupe S that have coloured stripes down the back from one side to the other.....

Saw a set on ebay a while ago and they were less than a tenner - needed a good clean but looked sound..

Bets someone on here has a set in a car they are stripping for spares?
