Urgent question regarding My MK4's standard components...

Post by Scorpz »

Hi guys,

Im new to this forum, i'll be posting pictures of my Black MK4 Polo sometime soon but first i just want to thank everyone for the brilliant information on this board, it helps so much, thanks! :)

I had a question ... right, i bought a new Pioneer headunit for my car, im going to give it a shot fitting it myself on sunday but noticed in the Fitting manual it said the following...

"speakers connected to this unit must be high-power types with minimum rating of 50w and impedednce of 4 to 8ohms. Connecting the speakers with output/or impedence values other than these noted here may result in the speakers catching fir, emitting smoke or becoming damaged."

My question was this, that would it be ok for me to fit in my headunit and just play them off my normal components? Would this be ok?

Its just for a few days that i want to play them off my normal components that came with my car, next week im going to be fitting in some Pioneer components myself.

Please give me any advice on this, i'll really appreciate it. Thanks :)

It'll be fine just as long as you don't run it flat out

Indeed. The actual output of the headunit is only 14 watts or so, HU manufacturers are notorious for overstating their unit's power output. Just don't run them at distortion levels.
