Strange Noise....

what are the symptons of the pedal box being on its way out?

i have a slight whine when i let off the accelerator and when i put my foot down, you can only hear it at low revs, not very loud at all!!

i was thinking maybe the diff or a belt like the cambelt, the diff went on my Mk4 Polo 6 months or so ago after 122k tho, that was a lot louder and jolty

any suggestions?

just coming upto 40k mate

im not sure about the recall, can you ring up VW and check?

my mate is a vw mechanic and is doing my service pretty soon

should i be worried though, only noticed it since i have had the stereo out

The safety recall was offered to all Polo GTi owners - you could go into your local VW dealership and ask them to check if it has been done or not by looking it up on their system? If it hasn't been done yet, it's free of charge due to the nature of the work. Mine took a day, I dropped it off at 8am and picked it up at 5pm. It's worth knowing if it's been done or not

You can try ringing VW Customer Services and ask to be put through to the Recall Department (bit worrying that, having a whole department dealing with recalls!) and I'm sure they will be able to tell you whether it has been done and if not how to arrange for the work to be carried out.

hit 40k this evening and the oil service thing came up, gonna get it done after pay day

what exact parts will i need for a 40k service
