Yea I've noticed mine have gotten a lil' noisy recently. I'm guessing its my damn sis using them on ice and so putting them out of shape. Theyre only 7months old, so might take them back to vw, see if theyre willing to change them
Gary, do they make this noise when you're on the motorway 60-70?? I used to get that.
Oh and on the FSI if you take the rear parcel shelf off and the seats down if you lift your foot off the throttle very quickly after accelerating you can hear a slight phhhhfffssstt noise, don't really know how to describe it, but it sounds pretty cool.

I'm sure they'll change 'em and charge you for the privilege The dealership that lost it's franchise here used to play that trick - said if the wipers are only coverd for 6months

Why would wipers be under warranty anyway? That is something that would "naturally" wear isn't it, like tyres?

Feck I really didn't make myself clear did I I should of added they'll charge you labour for switching the blades and doing any adjustments. The new dealership doesn't charge labour if the job is under 20mins.
If it's the same sound as mine do, its probably down to the weather.
As it's been bitterly cold here (Norwich - got down to -4.5!) the rubber on the wipers sieze up and go hard, which then makes it harder for it to glide over the windscreen.
Hopefully on a warmer day you might notice if the noise has stopped.
You can try cleaning the wiper blades with spirits. Also, try a windscreen polish. I've found Auto Glym's one to be effective, also Mer and RainX rain repellents help as well.
If none of these appear to help, it maybe that you've previously bent the blade out of shape - quite easy to do with the aero blades apparently. In this case, your best bet is probably to replace them.
Edit: Simpler option to try first, might be to just clean the window properly using a smear-free window cleaner eg windolene
