exhaust pipework diameter?

Post by ICEYPOLO »

Hi Guys,

currently looking at a supersprint racing back box and been informed the pipework is 54mm diameter, i'm under the impression that this differs to the standard pipework...

can anyone tell me what diameter the standard system is?

cheers

jus shelled out for these today:

found out the OE pipework is 50mm so might have to have a reducer fabricated or might jus get a custom race cat for good measure!! :)

Mmm should be pretty loud seeing as it appears to be ditching a silencer..?

Nice simple pipe as well, nothing too fussy...

You gonna fit it yourself?

yeah i'm prepared for an increase in noise but should hopefully free up a bit of airflow too!!

i wanted a nice simple, single exit and you know how hard it is to find one!?!!?

i dont know whether to attempt fitting myself with the pipe diamter difference but will see when it arrives from Italy in 3 weeks time!! :)

Yeah let us know how you get on bud. Wouldn't mind knowing if its really loud or not. Only realised you could get this racing exhaust after i got the normal one. :)

as its not a UK stock part they have to order and product it in italy...

initially they said 2/3 weeks and now they tell me they cant give me an exact date as to when they will make it let alone ship it over to me!

i'm tempted to ditch it and go to powerflow coz i need it for donny show and thats only 5 weeks away :?

but i want that one

I would wait if i was you. You'll prob be one of the first people to have that exhaut on your car in the uk.I think what happens is supersprint usually wait for other people to order that part then they make a batch at a time. I was thinking of ordering the supersprint manifold and de cat pipe to join on to my straight through centre section and backbox but this has a 3 week waiting list as well and it will probably take longer until it is in demand. I looked at the manifold on my Gti and it looks pretty similar to the supersprint one so might just get a decat pipe made instead.Plus doing this will save me money but still undecided. :)

after being told that it would be 3-4 months as they wait for a number of orders to be placed, i told them where to go... cant believe they advertise a product as being readily available but when you want one they cant guarantee it!?

anyway, went to powerflow and got a single, subtle 3" pipe sat underneath the bumper... nothing too lairy and not much noisier than standard!! has a nice burble to it tho...

I can't believe that, 3 to 4 months is a disgrace for them to get you that exhaust.Hope it isn't as long as that to get the manifold and de cat pipe.
