Once again its time for a new rear wiper blade (is it just me or do they not last long?!) or a whole new wiper unit so I thought I'd take the chance to see what my options are! Obviously I could get a new blade and be done with it, but with the recent boom in popularity of the aero wipers, I wondered if I could go for a smother look on the back? I want to be able to fit a replacement with as little effort as possible (preferably not having to cut wiper arms down to size etc), 'cos I'm a lazy beggar!
So there's aero, what else is available? I'm sure someone, might have been bstardchild, has mooted the idea of a Polo mk4 estate rear wiper - can anyone provide pics and tell me whether or not it might fit?

Hmm...I've seen this before and I do like it, however would it be a straight fit because our rear wiper goes from driver side to passenger whereas this is in the opposite direction...would you need a new motor?
It would look cool and I would be tempted, shame I just ordered an aero wiper though!
The Aerowiper, very neat and compact and works perfectly.
It fits all Mk5's it just is about 1" too long and hits the spoiler. But the spring steel is very easy to cut and there is a plastic cap that fits over so its all very neat to fit. And it works a treat. Should take you no more than 10 mins to fit. The hardest part will be getting your old nut off. Make sure you aim the washer nozzle carefully.
Though if i'm honest, i don't like it. It looks the part but it doesn't work very well.
Very noisey and doesn't clear window very well, whether its clean or dirty and even if it's really wet it judders.
I think it has something to do with the fact that when u cut it, ithe blade itself has quite a bend in it, and the shorter it is the harder it is for it to sit flush against the window. Might just need removed and gently bent the opposite way so that it sits better. I've not got round to it yet.

Yes, you do need to tweak it a bit. Mine doesn't judder at all and works 100% better than the old one. If anything when you shorten in the pressure on the window increases, but the difference in curves is probably what your problem is. Wipers can drive you mad when then don't work correctly. Usually some careful bending will help you get it right.
Well having looked the pics of the Polo estate wiper and looking at some of the Polo 6ns around the car park here, looks like cyhliu is right, looks like a hassle to fit because on the 6n2 the wiper parks on the right, not the left - another one of those little changes you didn't notice in the facelift from 6n to 6n2 I guess!
Anyway, if an aero jobbie takes 10 minutes to fit, then thats what I'll get, can't be too hard can it

Thanks guys
You can park it where you want - have it wipe the tail gate paintwork if you want rather tha the window
The wiper is symetrical so it doesn't matter looks wise which side the sweep starts from
The only think I now wonder is if the covers for the washer jet unit are different and would fit
