Lol well i think the high speeds with the 4 speed box on a 1 litre (so even lower geared, to the tune of around 427 vs 406 compared to the 1.3

) are what's done for my engine, certainly. It loved it whilst it lasted, but to keep doing it requires the kind of maintenance i'm just not cut out for.
IMHO 105mph on the flat and 0-60 in 15 secs are dream figures for the 1043, unless you've tuned the guts out of it (breaking the 50hp barrier etc) past what the cost of buying, insuring, taxing and running a 1.3 would have been. Either that or (more likely) your speedo is BADLY over-reading. I know mine is at least a good 5% optimistic if not a whole lot more - i could get 95mph
indicated, probably more like the official 89-90mph real speed. Those figures are optimistic even for the 1.3 CL after all!
Peak power is around 87mph, red zone comes in at 101, and limiter hits at 109 on the 4 speed / tight 5 speed. GT box would be more like 95mph for peak oomph, what there is of it.
(nippy enough around town though, which is what counts for more a lot of the time)
1.3 with 4 speed should get the power peak around the same speed, but not enter the red til about 106mph... and max about 114.
(5th --- GT box, 93/112/121 ... 8p, 106 for peak power (much higher speeds for redline / limiter ... and 85mph at about 4000rpm)
For reference, the new 70hp beast (with 94lbft at 2600 revs..

) gets "only" about 105 as a dependable top speed (in 4th around peak power, or 5th at about 4250 with a slight tailwind and a prayer) with a much more trustworthy speedo, and 0-60 in about 13 secs. Granted its carrying about 200kg more, but it's still the equivalent of a well-maintained 1.3CL with a very good airfilter / exhaust combo and a de-cat.
