Insurance companies - recommendations?

Probably need an FAQ on this, as it comes up loads.

I've had my renewal quote off Adrian Flux.

Â£944 fully comp

Is that a decent quote?

I'm 21 (22 when the policy starts tho)
I have 3 points on my license for an SP50
Live in Cardiff (reasonably high insurance group)
Policy covers my car and all mods on a like-for-like basis
Inclusive of an owners club discount (10%)

It's Â£150 cheaper than last year, which is nice.

Are there any other companies I should check out?

Bear in mind lots of companies will insure your modded car, but won't cover your mods like for like.

And if you say go with Endsleigh I will laugh at you!

id give Elephant & Admiral a try, they both seem 2 give similar quotes.
Only downside 2 Elephant is that u have 2 pay in 1 lump sum.

Elephant and Admiral are a part of the same company, that's probably why they give similar quotes. In my case though, my car's too modded to get a quote with them!

Norwich Union are out of the question too for the same reason, as are most normal companies.

The joys of having a non-standard car I guess.

Tesco will take extra cash off you for having a modded car, but they'll supply you with standard parts for modded ones if you have a prang. They're also cheap, but no use to me.

I'd have to have the snip to go with Diamond!

I'm gonna try Brentacre next week I think, that's the only one I've yet to try.

Adrian Flux will never get another penny of my money.

Try HIC. They do extra discounts if you subscribe to magazines or if you're part of a club. I got a discount when I gave them my old ClubGTI membership number!!

Bell Direct did me a wicked premium before, but I dont think they do modified...

how many modifications do u have? Admiral allow 5 i think.

Quite a few, I got a quote of about Â£700 from Elephant.co.uk so rang them up and I got to my brake mods (alloys and exterior ones left) before they said they wouldn't insure me..

Have you tried CIS ? Very good service and don't mind mods like you have. An engine conversion might be a different matter though...

Who are CIS? I keep hearing it abbreviated but I'm never sure which company it is?

Is it Co-Op?

I'll give anyone a try, but I know Adrian Flux insure conversions as I asked last year. Everyone else I'm asking when I get quotes.

Yes, CIS are co-operative insurance services. They give good discounts if another memeber of your family has a policy with them.
