still got some of the original idea, and the good old spiteful car jokes (oil in the eye, knocking people over with the bonnet etc) but i think they're trying too hard to be "cool" ....... and over-using crap-looking CGI, probably more as a money saving move than a gesture to bringing a good looking effect to film. overdoing it. (over-loaded?
). the existing movies already managed a good look just with quite simple on-set effects. The car doesn't need to "smile" or blink or anything like that, because if anything it removes some of the mystery and illusion.
plus, would the original owners from the 70s films really leave herb rotting away in some dustbowl scrapyard where it might never be found? highly unlikely...
then again it could be quite good fun. hm.
