Just took the car out to safeways and Focus.


It's having real bad problems pulling lower down the revs, but seems better 2.5k+, although I dunno whether it's just me not noticing it.

It starts to pull well then theres a HUGE flat spot.
and
Lower down the revs it struggles to pull. Is this defenitly a mis-fire?


The car was sat still fora good 5weeks and it didn't feel good then. Is this problem likley to go away a bit more on a 80+mile trip (I've got to go home saturday)?
My dad said it was doing it about 6weeks ago when he was driving it around, but I never noticed it because I tend to keep the revs around 2.5-3k, but I was trying to save fuel today.

So... does anyone have any ideas? Is it defenitly mis-firing? Could it be a belt problem? Or clutch?

u can pick a spark tester up at any car shop 4 pennies with that all u do is places it on the plug then put the HT lead onto the end of the tester with the engine running u will c the tester flash ever time that plug firers,

If all the leads r firing your fuel/air mixture could be weak.

I used to get this on my old carburettor. Turned out the mixture was far too rich and it was flooding the engine and producing massive flat spots. Any chance your ECU could have gone into limp home mode for any reason?

that sounds very likley. Never thought of that before. Tim has had problems with over fueling before with his new NZ setup.
Not sure why it would be in limp home mode though :?

If it isn't sorted by the journey home on saturday I'll disconnect the battery overnight and see if that cures anything...


looks like the AFRM from yoof is finaly going on then :roll:

changed your ignition leads lately?

had exactly the same problem twice with mine and it's been the HT cables at fault in both instances
