Hello everybody, being new to this whole car thing I have a dilemma about what fuel to use in my 87 polo - unleaded petrol with or withoud addtives? Travelling to find the last 4 * petrol station in yorkshire?
Any ideas anyone?
leaded/unleaded petrol dilemma
just stick unleaded it it, you'll be fine......
the have aluminium heads with hardened valve seat inserts in them anyway.
I've done over 70,000 miles in my mk2 without any trouble on unleaded.
if you really want unleaded ( as opposed to lead replacement petrol) this site may help

All VW's from about 1971 are capable of running on unleaded petrol. Some require an alteration to the ignition timing or super unleaded, but these are generally higher compression engines(16 valve Corrados for example). Polo's should have no problems at all(except for early Formel-E cars which use super)
