Hi! I have just become a g40 owner myself, I would give pitstop developments a ring- they know everything there is to know about the g40- and sell some great bits for them! A free and easy thing to do is get rid of the boost return pipes/charcole canister etc. Allso de-wedge the throttle body. :D

hi!

I do believe that car once belonged to a guy called mchugh on porka.net. he only owned it for a couple of weeks though. It had had a not-so-good re-spray in black (from red) which is presumably why it's been done again. Looks good now!

I remember seeing it on ebay and/or autotrader not long ago.

any plan to bring it to any shows or anything?

yea its still got black inside the engine bay and boot, but hey we can live with that for a bit. do u know any more about the history of it??
we dont really know about bringing it to shows and things, weve
not really had much to do with polos as we were more into golfs
but this car is a beast and is quickly changing us. theres so much
u can do with them we are getting ideas from everyone and its
like where do u start first. when u talk about shows which
ones are u talking about?when are they and where? and
maybe we will!! think my boyfriend would love to show it off!!!!
yea another bit that they missed painting was inside the
sunroof its still red
hes thinking of puttin 1.0CL badges on it hahahaha

I don't really know anything else about the car, I only ever saw it once or twice in the short time mchugh owned it. I just remember thinking the respray was a bit cack (still red under the window seals etc...). But it looks like someone has done a proper job of it now, although I'd be wanting to get the engine bay & inside the boot done.

Anyway, for tuning bits check out Pitstop Developments as you've already mentioned. Getting the charger serviced would be my priority if you don't know when it was last done. You can then get it ported out at the same time to Pitstop's Full Blend spec for a little more money. After that, stating looking at smaller pulleys, chips, toothed belt conversion.... there's loads of ways to get more power.

If its Polo type shows you're after, then there is PoloShow on the 10th and 11th of September. It will feel nicely at home there. Theres also Club Polo Rolling Road days and ClubG40 RR days to look out for.

The supercharger is the most expensive part on a G40, they are around £1200 new!! Get it serviced or just looked at by pitstop for piece of mind if you have no proof that it has been serviced.

Gearboxes are hard to come by as well but are fairly bullet proof if you keep on top of the diff bearings, check that these are fine as if they are starting to wear everything runs out of line and starts to wear to, not good!! A gearbox strip and rebuild (new bearings/ seals) at jp race will cost you around £200 which is really cheap for piece of mind

Once you've made sure these are okay then you can start tuning. Tuning options are quite endless really, all depends on what you are looking for in terms of performance/ reliability/ money spent.

I've spent around £1500 on tuning bits and bobs and i've got around the 165bhp mark which is a hell of a lot of fun in such a small car

I, like yourself converted from golfs but you'll soon agree that you can't beat the grin factor of a G40 8)

Try pitstops websitehttp://www.pitstopdevelopments.com for a few ideas or the forum, Say LregG sent ya

edit: didn't read everyone else posts first
