OK, who's up for this?

Post by dxg »

I have the figures here, but I thought this would be more interesting for everyone else... I also think it might open some eyes.

Who wants to guess what the world-wide sales revenue of the Volkswagen Group was in 2004?

OK, now that you've got that figure, guess its profit on those sales, after taxation and specials.

I think you'll be amazed at the real figures (and the consequent profit margin). I know I was!

Deek.

Oh well, I just thought this was interesting...

Anyway, VAG's world-wide sales revenue in 2004 was 88,963,000,000 Euros (£61,094,000,000).

But, and this is the kicker, their profit margin before tax was 1.2%. After tax, it was 0.8%.

Crikey,

I would have thought 20-30% profit. 0.8% is abit poor.

Thats good, I think most of the other big players are losing big money, Ford, Chrysler/Merc, all are struggling to break even, future for VW could be similar, they have a lot of excess staff in Germany and because of the labour laws over there, they cannot get rid of them, so this is eating into profits.

Blimey.. that's not a big margin.
Although, it's still £488,752,000.. which is quite a big not very big margin in my book ;)
