Hello!

Post by mk4polo »

Hiya, ive got a mk4 at the moment, but im selling up and buying a 1.9 TDI sport 9n.
I cant wait!
A few questions though!..
Is the 1.9Tdi worth the extra money, ill be getting the engine chipped, the 100bhp can be chipped to 150bhp from jabbasport, thats just too tempting!
Ive seen a few 1.4 TDI sports for sale, but the 100s are alot rarer, i take it thats coz people like them, not coz they are pants!?
Ill be modifying the 9n, hefty lowering and 17/18" wheels almost straight away, along with rear badge recess removed and the bonnet recess for the badge removed, again, almost straight away after ive got it! :D
Anyone here got 17s or 18s on their mk6? how much have you lowered it by and whats the scrubbage like? last but not least, what ofset have you used? i had fun with my mk4 (running 17s) with some ET35 wheels, they scrubbed everywhere, with just me in the car, but now ive got some ET38, i can even have people in the back!! 3mm makes a lot of difference, and this time i wanna get it right 1st time!
keen to hear what you guys have got to say!
Cheers

Hello Mark
Probably see you on here a bit more often now you're getting a 9N. There's a lot more on here compared to Porka !.

mk4polo good choice of car.

I don't want to put a downer on things but I don't think it's possible to squeeze 50BHP from the 100 TDi, I've had quotes from reputable companies and they can only recommend +25-30BHP with torque rises in the same bracket.

For you to get more than that you're looking at new injectors and possibly a performance exhaust/downpipe and bypassing the CAT (which is legal on a Diesel) for the remaining 20BHP.

The reason I haven't done this yet is because of WARRANTY, something I bought the car for in the first place. If you ever did need to make a claim and VDUB could attribute it to the chip then you'll be out of pocket.

However, if you do go for it I'd be interested in your opinion.

Good Luck

Maybe Emann knows something about what's doable -- see the second post in this thread:

I hear what your saying, and i agree that it seems a lot for a chip alone. I spoke to jabba sport about it and they advertise and are confident that they can get 145-150bhp from the chip alone, costing just under £300.
Im going to get it done either way, if its 20bhp then so be it, i think its still worth it. Warrenty is a bit of an issuse, but to be honest, my mk4 has never been covered by a warrenty, so i will just carry on the way i have been up till now!
Cheers for the replys tho guys 8)

150 in a polo

Post by Emann »

Hi there..

I just happed to work at VW here in Denmark... and I know that the clutch will NOT hold to 150BHP in the 100bhp version.. Its simply not strong enough.

don't want to start an argument but i agree with Mark, i've been told most engines will hold twice there final bhp.

Didn't VW go racing with a tuned TDi.....

:D oohhh i'm liking the sound of that!
Although im gonna limit the engine 'mods' to a jabba chip, mabye and induction kit (if they work on an oil burner) and a stainless zorst.
Thats for that info!
