Options...

I want to know from you guys, if you pay different prices for options...lets say a 6-disc changer - if you were to take it with a new car or buy it later on?

Here the dealership charges R2635 - Â£202.69 for a 6-disc changer as an option, but if you have it fitted later on, they charge R4000 - Â£307.69.

My car came fitted with 14" alloys, but I opted for the 15" Melbournes, they cost me R1100 - Â£84.62 extra, but if I were to buy 'em afterwards, it would be a wopping R8000 - Â£615.38, + tyres R913 - Â£70.23 each - bringing it to a total of Â£896.30. Now compare that to the Â£84.62 I had to pay extra. Okay I know I would've had two sets of wheels then....but still, it's a huge difference!

If you get them as an extra they replace your existing wheels, if you get them after you have 2 sets, so I guess that's what you're paying extra for?

Also they can subsidise the cost of the product with the profit they are making from the car. If you purchase the parts afterwards you may not have bought the car from that outlet, so they can't subsidise it.

Also they will keep the original parts and sell them seperatly. recouping the money lost for giving you a discount.

So really (from a dealers point of view) your not getting it any cheaper if you buy it with the car.

Petrified, Your car looks very nice. Are you going to lower it a little (30mm)?
