HELP HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by GTI NUT »

As per my previous posts about side light, one of my bulbs has blown, got priced £69 by local VW dealer, local garage quoted £39 to change bulb, needed MOT today so put car in garage and told me lunch time.

Went back to pick up car, passed MOT no problems thankfully but heh ho the b***** mechanic couldnt be bothered fixing the bulb, he spent 1 hour and half and couldnt get the bumper off!!!!!!!!!! Mechanic ecided he couldnt be bothered trying to fit light as too big a job.

Hope you dont mind but I quoted you guys managed to get bumpers off in less time.

So now will need to take it to dealer HELP!!!!!

Has anyone taken theirs to garage to get changed? :( :(

me and my mate have just fitted my smoothed bumper in half an hour! thats taking off, swapping clips over and fitting new one! mechanic sounds like a bit of a chimp mate!

- 4 torx screws down each arch lining
- 4 torx screws along the top of the grille
- indicators off, 1 torx screw underneath, each side
- fog light covers off, 3 screws to take lights out, 1 torx screw each side

easy as that!!

even the dealer should only be charging labour, say 1 hour, £45 max i reckon... still stupid tho!

:?

Thanks tearing my hair out with all this, mechanic is old skool when cars didnt have air bags etc and too busy moaning that car shouldnt be designed that bumper requires to come off for bulb to be changed.

Did it take you long? Just want to get bulb changed

Hi Iceypolo, did you have to remove the headlight washers?

yeah jus get your finger nails under the covers and they unclip easily, leave the jets themselves in place.
