good luck, bloody insurance companies, you pay your due's then some idiot hit's you and your car gets wrote off if it's not your fault they should fix the car not matter what!(rant mode disabled). What's the cost of repairs against the value of the car if you don't mind me asking (guessing uneconomical repair as the reason for write off)?

Oooh yes but don't fret been here before........

I refused to let the car be taken to the ins co Approved repair shop nearest one 50 miles away so at least I still have close access to it otherwise they'd have wipped it away for salvage.

It's locked in the workshop and I have the keys again

My paint man knows if anyone tries to remove it and succeeds he will be hanging upside down by his ********

I've had a word with the assessor and he is going to have a look at the financials again.....

They tried to use the old well you stated you paid £1700 so thats what it's worth trick..... I turned and said that's what I paid for it - if I'd said I'd paid £5000 for it would you still be writing it off?

*assessor shuffles feet and looks sheepish well yes cos it wouldn't be worth that

Exactly so what does it matter what I paid for it - whats the retail value?

About £2500 on a forcourt

Deep joy!!!!

It economical rather than structural - no exact figures being bandied around cos we haven't really got down to brass tacks yet

Bear in mind this is my insurance company that is currently dealing with it

I haven't even started on the other party's insurance company yet - but I don't tend to bother with them - they just try and mess you around so I let em do it for a week and then straight to small claims court and issue a summons for the other party to answer for the damages. They stop messing about real quick then
