I am visiting this G40 on saturday, with the intention of purchasing it.

I have a set of 14" Golf Mk1 GTI Alloys - BBS type.

Do these fit the G40, would they cause problems?

Should fit no problem if these are the 4 x 100 PCD, ET33 type I think they are. Just make sure you have wheel bolts long enough!
