hey people, good site
am looking into a 2000 gti in red and wud like info please, they look good and go reasonably well
ive been reading of a few problems people are having with them, i thought they are reliableish cars...
does the cd changer take mp3 cd's?
ive seen extras for them are leather, heated seats and cd changer, any other extras available?
the other thing is the size of them, i had a clio which is too small, but are these polo's the same size or bigger than a clio?
cheers
Jay

the changer doesnt take mp3s
Every car will have problems, People on here will share problems and tell people about them to help others. I doubht theres 3year old car in the country thats not had a problem with it. Main probs with the polo is the pedal box (this should of been eliminated with the re-call tho) Cam belt tensionser, and BBS wheels corroading.
If it was a newish Clio then its probably the same size, i expect the Polo is abit bigger than the older style Clios.
There pretty much loaded up with toys anyway, mine didnt have a CD changer, but does have a sun roof. standard spec is climate conrtol, xeon headlamps, electric windows, mirrors ect, remote central locking
Hope that Helps

We have a honda jazz, volvo xc90 and a polo 2001 16v, we just got rid of a mitsubishi. my friend has a yaris t-sport and another has a fiat, (the fiat is terrible) my polo has had so many problems i now hate it and drive the jazz most of the time because its so much easier to drive but a bit slower. the polo mk5 is like a tank to drive. we have not had 1 problem with the honda, my friend has not had 1 problem with his toyota we had no problems with the mitsubishi and the dealers were all nice. the volvo dealers are scum but the volvo is good quality. I pick up my brand new yaris on tuesday and look forward to saying goodbye to the polo, i would never buy VW again ans i dont know how they got a reputaion for being "good quality"

cheers for info mate
Just have to say that although the Polo Gti has its problems (believe me I've had a few), what you do get is an exceptionally well built car with loads of spec and one that is still a rarity on the roads. As for VW overall, I've owned 2 polo's and a golf tdi without so much as a stutter and have found their build quality to be far better than anything out there. I can make a fair comparison as I've owned 2 Pug 205 Gti's and a Rover 216, both of which fell to pieces quickly (although the pug 205 is still the best drivers hot hatch ever..)
tbh, every car is going to have problems. Vw reliability comes from the previous generations and no as much from the current lineup. how many older golfs and polos do you see about!?
Also, just because people on here have had problems, think of all the people that aren't members on here : their cars may have been faultless!
Just my 2c
