That's one sweet G40! Looks like you worked hard on that engine bay. And the rest of it for that matter.
 @ "special"

Although your vw badge appears to have fallen off :P

Nice work, is it a converted GT? Or has someone stuck a GT bage on it?

Looks mint, wish my bay was that clean.

It's amazing to see it like finished or there about. A vast improvment from when I last saw it, just can't wait to see it in the flesh. I job well done and I hope your pleased with it Doug.

your second thought was correct, the g40 badge got broken so the garage had to put a gt badge on as thats all they had! u know how rare these g40 badges are! i've changed the gt badge for a standard polo badge sprayed black!

trust me when i say, a damp spunge, a wire brush and some back to black for a very long way!

i cleaned the rocker cover with a wire brush, all the hoses etc with back to black, and the paint work with a damp spunge! will be working on it more to really make it look tidy from any angle!

thought you might be interested in some more pics which i found today. the pics were taken when i first started working on her.

Image
this image shows what i had to deal with when it came to the old alarm!

Image
shows the difference a bit of colour restorer and high gloss polish can do!

Image
wiring from the old radio, compare this to my previous pics of the new radio wiring! makes me smile!

Image
this is what i pulled out including radio, wiring, speakers, and the lumps of metal from the rear. the lumps of metal were from a towbar which has dissapeared in its time!

Image
wiring which was left from the tow bar. the wires were tucked in the boot and were left bare! a fuse blower! all has now been removed!

I thought this may have been the case, elbow grease. Thanks for the ideas, think I will attempt it soon
