Tyre Treads

Post by Revis »

if i had 3 tyres with the same tread pattern and 1 with a different pattern (thinks its a directional one also) and two had a bit more wear than the others but still lots of tread would there be any problems with handling, or safety maybe under heavy breaking etc.

cheers

The tyre with a different pattern will obviously have slightly different handling qualities to the rest, which will mean that your handling isn't absolutely perfect.. but an awful lot of people run different patterns on different wheels with no problems, so it should be alright unless you're into going round corners sideways.. Certainly it won't be actually dangerous unless you're driving it too hard anyway.

I've ended up having to do the same. I've got three matching Hankooks and another brand tyre. As long as you put two matching tyres up front, there shouldn't be any issues, and I can't say I've had any handling problems.

Karl.
