Help with alloys please

Post by polonuts »

Hi
I have managed to get a set of 14" teardrop alloys that are in really shabby condition. I know that I have two options to refurbish them:

Polish
Paint.

If I paint them I am going to need a primer coat first, but its going to have to be an aluminium primer. Anyone know of where I can get this in spray can form?

The other problem is that I have lowered my car 40mm in the back and 60mm in the front (squareback). Any ideas on the cheapest tire size that I can get away with?

Have a look at my posts on here about putting Golf Gti steels on a Mk3 squareback, think they're the same size as yours and offset (et38 6x14).

And look at same thing on porka:

Hope it helps

thanks mate, but it doesn't mention what the result was. Did you get away with 185 50 14's on your squareback after all?

Still need advice on refurbing the alloys as well fellas
