Volkswagen has announced spruced-up Polo special editions, which represent extra value over S models.

Starting at £8995 for the 64bhp 1.2, the Twist adds alloy wheels, unique badging and metallic paint for free, items which if specified on the S would cost an extra £645.

The Twist includes the S's standard kit of air conditioning, power steering, ABS anti-lock brakes and four airbags. Buyers can opt for the Polo Twist package with the 1.2, 1.4, 1.9 SDi and 1.4 TDi engines; prices range from £8995 for the 1.2 (65) three-door to £10,495 for the 1.4 TDi five-door.

That's around £410 less than the equivalent S versions. The Twist is on sale from now until the end of the year.
