Milltek sport exhaust system

Post by Si_GTi »

Fellow GTi owners!

I've been in contact with Milltek regarding a performance exhaust system for the Polo GTi, and have been informed that they currently have no plans to develop a system due to lack of interest from GTi owners. Transcript of the reply e-mail follows:
Hi Simon,

Many thanks for your interest in Milltek Sport products. Unfortunately, we don't offer any products for your vehicle as we haven't received enough interest in the past. If we release anything in the near future, I'll let you know.

Kind regards,

Pete Withers

No surprise there, as we already knew that Milltek don't yet cater for the Polo...

I was wondering what the interest level would be like for a Milltek development for the Polo GTi, and how many owners would be interested in having a Milltek system fitted if they could be persuaded to develop a new application for us! :D

Perhaps I could get a list of users who would be interested in a Milltek system and present it to Milltek and see if it changes their mind...?

I would much prefer a miltek system than a superspint one. Better made, not as noisy and I’ve heard only good things about them!

This could work well with the chip!

Me please

hi guys,

my mate personaly knows the manager/ owner of miltek in Ilkeston (5 mins from my house) and has enquired about this before for me...

unless you can get bout 10+ people to go for one then they wouldnt even consider it... even offered mine as a demo but they werent bothered...

good luck if you intend to keep trying them!

Thanks Scott, challenge extended

10 or more - can it be done? Out of interest I'm gonna start a list and see how many of us are up for it 8)

Copy list, add name, you know the drill  and if we have enough interest I will approach Milltek again with a list of names! BUT you have to want this, if I were to take a list to Milltek and tell them I have a dozen owners wanting a system and ask them if they are interested in a project car to work on, it'd be nice to have a dozen guaranteed buyers!

Cheers 8)

Just a vote for a supersprint system. It sounds wicked. Its not loud at all, its just got a 'sporty note'. Very subtle yet a marked and NEEDED improvement over stock. Only issue as such is its mild steel not stainless but no rust 4 me yet 2 years on.

AMD have my name down on the development list for a cat back Polo GTI system, however they have to keep asking Miltek and the feedback goes along the lines of, new cars have priority and the numbers just don't make it worth while. If there is a lull then they have no problem in extending the product range, but currently the development waiting time on new cars is about 9 months will certain VAG cars having priority

Guess this is the downside of owning a rare'ish car.

I'm planning abit of a franinstine (sp) Exaust, made up of a Supersprint center pipe, then a custom built backbox hidden behind the back bumper. Not keen on tail pipes sticking out the back.

I've herd good things about Milltek, hope you guys manage to sort something with them!

i had a milltek on my old Cupra Ibiza, and the quality of fit, plus the sound was exceptional.

It wasent obtrusive, yet it had a pleasant roar at over 4k.

As stated the Supersprint is a good alternative, but if you need 10 people to sign up for it, you can count me in.

how would you all rate milltek in comparison to powerflow? I almost bought a cat back stainless system from them for about £240, keeping the two boxes to keep noise down - I dont want to be deafened as I spend a fair amount of time on the motorway!

Well personally I've heard good things about both - my sister's bloke had a Powerflow cat-back on his 6n 16v and it was really nice. Not overly loud, it was a subtle and sporty tone which sounded really good when he was pushing along at speed :)

On the other hand, most of the reports about Milltek have come from the Golf boys, largely R32 owners, who don't seem to have a bad word about them!

If Milltek aren't too keen on developing a system (bearing in mind that Ritey's name has been on the AMD development list for some time now) then Powerflow is certainly a viable alternative - £240 for a cat-back stainless system is pretty good too!

I think its gonna be a no-go on this one I'm afraid :(

Powerflow or Supersprint is probably your best bet! I think I'll get a Powerflow, when I can afford it and when my insurance allows

There was a powerflow exhaust on ebay few weeks back only thing that put me off was that the guarantee did not transferownership. Would have been a good bargain.
