got rear ended in the polo.

just had it mot'd and serviced, picking up from garage and got rear ended.

some woman hit me in a micra between 30 and 40 while my car was stationary.

ironically the insurance people have given me a micra to drive about it, its certainly very spafe (or rubbish..)

ok so the back hurts and the doctors (mate drove me and my passenger to hospital) told me not go go dancing for 4-6 weeks... (gutted, i actually do love going out dancing a couple of nights a week) I had to p*** in a cup to make sure i wasnt pissing blood and got told i have a back sprain. feels like someones hit you in the kidneys real hard.

the future of the polo is unsure - where she hit is that panel on the left hand side of my car, plus the bumper and boot. The back wheel wouldnt turn duh and the roof might of been kinked with the funky angle.
I fear the result of the assessment - quite how much they'll pay out on a 97 120,000 mile 1.4 L polo i dont know (even though i did spend several hours last sat hoovering it out...) - not much i imagine.

some of my mates have been like "well you'll get compensation" - though that maybe true - i wont get a lot, a reasonably fit 23 year old with whiplash and any money that does come through wont be for months and months and months.

i figure at best they'll give me £1500 for my car

what do i do with that? its arse

(though i could probably find a bit more cash - and 1500 is enough for a g40...)

Gah! Sorry to hear it bud. When I had my bump my insurers set up legal cover immediately and told me to advise them of any uninsured losses, and if I had have had whiplash or any other injury I'm sure a little compensation would have been on the cards.

The woman in the Micra can't have been paying much attention to hit your stationary car at 30/40 :?

If you do get some cash for your injuries, you can add it to the money from the Polo (thats if its a write-off) and see what kind of budget that gives you.

Like robz says, hope it all gets sorted out for you hassle-free :)

Cheers

When you go for an assesment tell them your having anxiety problems and bad dreams, should give you an extra few quid!

(I actually had dreams about crashing and I told the doctor at the assesment and I got extra!)

You're looking at £1,500 for whiplash and say an extra £500 for the bad dreams, if you get £1,500 for your car too then thats a nice £3,500 you can spend on a tuned G40!

Mind you this is the reason our insurance goes up every time!

thing is the claim cheque wouldnt come through for a few months

i have to see a doctor to assess me, some some law means you cant do this untill 35 days after the accident...

(new-ish law)

i dunno how fast they'll give me money if its a write off - quick i hope.

£2000 would buy a 16v polo - so i might have to not buy food or summin this month and buy one of those instead lol

i like the line about the bad dreams though
lol

i do seem to sit at the lights, and every junction watching my rear view now lol

another valid point! Ive heard (dnt quote me on this) that the reason insurance is so high in Ireland that every time some1 rear ends u they claim 4 thousands & thousands! there was even (again dnt quote me on this) ppl who went about crashin in2 each other & sharin the "winnings" WTF

Im fine, i was only doing 20ish. The damage is all cosmetic apart from the bonnet which wont open  any ideas would be grateful.

This is what happened. Car on front slowed down and pulled into the left so i followed the road on, then the next thing i know he pulls out and smacks right into the side of my car. He didnt indicate. Obviously he didnt look in his mirror. Found out he was trying to get into his drive on the right side of the road, but didnt think of looking to see if there was anyone behind him. His insurance better pay out as im only TPTT.

My first crash, i wasnt as shaken as i thought i would be. Just the day before i had been talking about how it had nearly been a year since i passed my test and i hadnt had a crash yet. Then 28 days before a year passes, some bugger hits me.

Yeah my bump was my first, same kinda low-speed event. My bonnet didn't open afterwards either, probably because the front bumper had been moved by the impact and the catch mechanism was pushed out of alignment, and so can't release. Something similar might have happened to yours?

The last three or four months have been an open hunting season for the poor Polos!
