1300...still leaking from head , but new place

Post by steveo3002 »

i had a slight weep from the front driver side headgasket, so i changed the gasket and did a nice job , cleaned it all spotless and torqued up the new bolts as per the manual

now..its leaking from the front middle...quite a bit

any ideas..spose the head is warped, although if it wasnt before it shouldnt be now

is the oil gallery around that area pressurised or just a return

btw...i used a ecp gasket, maybe i shouldve got a better quality one????

should have got the head skimmed if it was leaking in the first place.

doin mine at the moment but i'm getting it skimmed a bit extra to raise the compression

More pick up and go here we come mwahahahahahaha

It's always a risk putting a head back on without skimming and besides a skim ups the comp ratio and that means more power

Don't go mad tho find out what the deck height is and go to - 20 tho of that

Oh you won't have to worry about blowing it up just the pistons tapping on the cylinder head at then end of every stroke

Still you can just say it's a diesel

^ three posts up + 10 thou is max but you have no more room for another skim so the head is scrap if the gasket ever blows

I'm still looking for a 1.3 Coupe S head with Hyd lifters - no one anywhere so it's a shame to trash a good head with no reason

well the heads never been off the car till i took it off today

so i'll do a normal skim then just see whats left but i dobt its warped as it didn't run hot, the gasket has blown out the back rather thank between the oil ways and water ways. so the cars runs fine but it just pisses oil all over the ennine bay.

Only good side is the engine bay will never rust now
