Hi, little update. Have been sick for some time so i have not been doing mutch on the car, but i have done some small things.

Bedi: thanx, not realy sure when the car will be on the road, but i hope about mid june. one big problem, Have no front for the car and a 650pounds road and registration bill to pay first. :( :(

jes i think this is the gti interiour,it is not leather tho. i bought it from a guy that had 2 gti polos the one was wrekked so he was selling off the parts. Not sure if the front seats are a straight fit, but i shall try them tomorrow, the wall cards and the back seats fits without modification. The doorcards did not fit, but i am sure that if you have all the parts of the gti door that they will fit, the problem is where the mirror is mounted on the inside of the door, some plastic parts with different shape.

Jes the car will have a total respray, Not realy sure what color but i have been thinking black, boring but not final jet. when you say laquer do you mean the clear spray that goes on the top of the paintjob? Deffenetly going to consider the gti engine, do you know it it pops in without modifications?

david b: Thanx, no infact the backhatch was the first thing i ever welded, my big welding problem was the thought about ruining the hatch, but then i got started it went ok, the welding jobb looks mutch worse than the en result, the hard part was finding out how big area the filler was to be applied and getting the darn thing smooth :D

dubprince: jes these came from a mk5, but in norway this model is called 6n2 i think, i am planing to get the mk5 windscreen also. Jup the guide gave me the idea. :D thanx to the author.. Nice one!

Just had to try the hatch on.

Finally got my longawaited weel nuts. 50mm thread

Also bought a lcd screen for the car, 7" have ordered a power inverter from the UK, and a xbox with mod chip and 160gb hd. only problem is the placement of the lcd screen. anyone have a good tip?

Image

Anyone have any experience with shaved door kits ? there are loads on ebay but im not sure what kit to buy, going to go to the workshop tomorrow and finish off the doors, make the floor for when i want it 2 seats and start sanding down the car for the paint job, if i am lucky there will be paint on the car next week. :D
Have a nice weekend all.

I'm thinking of the exact same thing - where to put a 7" monitor

now you've bought the one that is fixed (not motorised in a DIN slot) the only place I can think of is the cubby.

When I finally get my screen I'll buy another centre console (the bit that surrounds the gearstick and goes up to and under the dash) and then cut a bit out of that to seat the 7" screen correctly. should work a treat. then there will be a slimline PS2 that I will take in / out of the car as I wish.

I must say you've done a great job so far mate - very impressed at your "hands on" experience!

You could fit it in the bottom of the center console, just infront of the gearstick. It would not be an easy thing to remove if u wanted it slightly descreet. I suppose u could angle it up so it always see it from your seat.

Jes, my baby is on the road any moment! My god i am glad this is soon over.. all the bodywork was done and time for some paint, the plan was originaly as mentioned before to paint the car black metalic, 5 minutes before the paint was to be mixed. i changed my mind and pulled out the oldest color chart i found. And there infront of me a color called celestine.. 1973 Fiat lorry color. I was sold ...

The car taiped up and ready for some paint.

The color is not right on these pictures, i have a slr camera at work so i shall post some pictures with better color. anyway. it is a light baby blue. I is so bright the car glows, its amasing. :D There is still some things left, i am missing front lights, bumper, grill and the control device for popping the doors up. Hope you like it.. time for some beer now :)

cheers.

Don't know if you've considered this:

How about a 6N2 front end conversion, I thinkall you need is the front wings, grill, bumpers and lights off the 6N2. I Don't know how much of an exact fit it is. But with your hands on approach you shouldn't have any problems with the modification.

Just thought I'd chuck a spanner in the works...

How about removing the fans from the centre console and fitting the screen there?

what's the process for spraying the sills, b-post inside, boot inside etc? does the guy spray all those - then shut the doors etc and spray over the outside? i always thought you had to spray with the doors etc off the car?

looking very very nice
