GL and CL
http://www.parkers.co.uk/choosing/carre ... 028&page=7
If you click on the actual model (Yeah some of them aren't clickable...useful LOL) then it should tell you what it came with!
Insurance groups seem to be a bit crazy between the 2 as well...1.6GL being a higher group than a CL....UNLESS it's an auto, in which case the CL is higher.
Should say something here too....

Hope that helps in some way!

GL was supposed to be de-luxe whilst CL was for the peons.
Though of course with all the options you could spec, it can be difficult to tell between them... just the "standard" kit changed, of course.
There are some mighty nice GLs out there to be had for not that much cash, if you keep your eyes peeled. Not performance cars really, but optioned up to the eyeballs from the generous spec by people who wanted a small but stacked car. Nearly had a one or two from various sources as a nail replacement, before being vaux-hauled..

i looked into this very very carefully when i was buying my polo and decided on the GLX as it was fully loaded. The cl and gl definately have different wheels as stock, other than that its mainly stuff like electric windows and such as people have suggsted. The CL probably just had a bunch of options put on it by the dealer. I think the gl may have an airbag whils the cl doesnt as standard, it was a while ago when i checked this out.tempo wrote:totally the same down to the last screw only thing i'm not sure about is the engine they look the same and are the same size (1.4) but i'm not that knowledable on engines
