Can any of you recommend a source for the chrome trim strips for the rear side windows? Mine are rather tatty after 25 years and it seems a shame to put them back on when the car is repainted.
Also, I need a couple of the clips which secure the rad grille to the leading edge of the front wing...anyone got any, or even know the VW part number? My VW agent is incapable of finding anything without a part number!!!

You should look for the steel stripes / have been put into the Audi 50 and Polo 1 up to July 1976 then changed into plastic version. The steel version will cost here in germany abt. 250 to 300 EUR for both sides in good condition.
Some prices have been risen in the last years and the hobby type 86 is an expensive one.
