Nah, it's just got the old mechanical head engine rather than the newer hydraulic head. All the engine sizes look the same, save some minor differences that you'd have to really be looking for.

That's a 1.3 note the lack of the idle valve on the bulkhead.

the engine number is stamped on the block just above the alternator or alternatively(sp) check the log book (V5) the code should be on there

sweet! a kooky old economy model... dare you to get 70mpg out of it :D

looks very clean, and surprisingly unfaded for a red one! should be good to the end of time if it's ok now..

be wary of me breaking cover and burdening you with technical questions ;) .... i only have 2... eh 3 for now, and only if its a runner and you've taken it out

* how does that economy guage work anyhow? does it have a needle, or just a light that comes on when you're over a certain frugality?
* is that one of the ones which automatically cuts the engine after a few seconds in neutral at a standstill and restarts when you put it in gear? (possibly your dads mate thought it had an annoying stalling problem :D)
* how are you coping with those incredibly long gears?

;) enjoy it anyway! cant say no to a free car really, even though there's still tax and insurance involved :)

Well...... the economy guage is just a simple needle tht points to the mpg, but also included is a light tht tells u when to change gear! (or should i say when IT thinks u should change gear LOL)
No it doesnt cut the engine, it has a switch u can turn on and off tht cuts the revs and everythin else right down to save fuel. i dont have this on as its a little faulty.
The gears are quite kl actually! u dont have to change gear as quickly coz they just go on forever!
