mobile police cameras :(

Post by adz »

just a bit of a question really

got followed for 18 miles today by a yellow police "caught on camera van", it was really strange, i did a whole circle around a block to see if he was just going my way. .. he still followed :(

it made me think is he just following me to wait till i go 3 miles over the speed limit and say "hah u went over speed limit for 1 second" , your banned, who knows

ive heard theres a new thing for new drivers if u get any points in the first 2 years you have to do the test again, is this true?

also do these police vans have to be still as i see alot of them hiding behind bushes lol

there evil nearly

but are they worse than traffic wardens lol?

any way any one been followed before?

not sure when it applies from, but new drivers now have a 2year probationary period. if you get 6 points you have to surrender your licence and take your driving test again.

i've been driving two years in july

Don't worry, the camera vans do have to be stationary. The police cars, however, can monitor your speed relative to their own and do you for it that way.. as a general thing if a police car starts following me then I just dive into the nearest residential street, park up and let them get on with their business.. just makes me feel like I'm taking my driving test all over again if I'm being followed by the police, trying to do everything by the book :?

only if the police car has a calibrated speedo! and not all of them do! they can only do u in police car that is calibrated so that they can garanteed speeding.

i spotted one of those speed vans that sit on the bridge on a motorway! couldn't believe it when i saw it! a thursday evening on the a3 at dusk! i was about the only car on the road! dam them!

:? Hope you weren't speeding at the time.. it is quite ridiculous when they run speed traps on empty roads..

Unfortunately I think most/all of the traffic police cars have calibrated speedos. Doubt the panda cars do, don't really know tbh, but I'm quite sure the traffic cars have them.

i'd say the traffic cars definatly have calibrated speedo's. probably correct about the panda cars but imagine how many panda cars there are to traffic cars, so thinknig about it, there aren't that many with calibrated speedo's! 8) can't say where i get my information from, or i'd have to kill u! :P

me..... speeding??? well maybe a little! Yikes! i slammed on the ancours as soon as i saw it, i was only doing around 80mph n e way! it was downhill as well!

i reckon its all a bit daft just finish work and there out to get u lol perhaps they should target roads where there have been crashes or people run over,

also what is with all these 30 mph flashy signs every where lol

, a m8 ive mine got pulled doing 128 in a fiat uno turbo lol

well if you add a (negatively) speed obsessed "safety" culture to the mindset of the kinds of guys who either volunteer or are punished by being given the talivan jobs (ie complete bastards), i think you get a recipe for them just trying to spook you and see if it causes you to freak out and hit a tree at 28mph.

had police cars tail me round the block before as well and it took me pulling up and walking over to them (they stopped, i guess to see if i was really stopped or trying to shake them) to find out what was going on - "nothing" was the best i could get. intimidation i call it.
was it late at night? sometimes they consider anyone driving around a particular place at a certain time suspicious, as if those on the late / night shift only live in distinct areas and not in others...

i've done this several times.

usually they stop and start quzzing me about my car.

once i pulled up into a mates driveway, and i swear to god, the cop did a hand brake turn to skid his car round to block me in the drive way (in a cul de sac) and the guy driver and female cop jumped out like i'd just robbed a bank and came running over.

as me and my mate calmly and slowly went about getting out the car to go into his house, paying little attention to the cops - not sure why they're so excited.

the cops had no explanation for their actions and actually left without even asking to see my driving license. they simply asked if it was my car and i said "yeah" and they walked back to their car, did a 30 point turn to get out the drive, and sodded off.

random.

Police are so wierd these days, i had a police car once fololowing me around, so i started going round in circles to see if they followed and they did.

After about 30 mins of constant following, i decided to stop my car in the middle of the road and hold up all traffic haha i jumped out and walked to the police car and demanded their names as i took down their Numbers on their shoulders, they quickly apologized and said they were following me due to a lot of small sporty cars being stolen in the area recently

Bulllllllllllllllllllsheeeeeeeet

i think they just like messing with ppl, knowing they have no right to do what they do.

Advice id give to all ppl in that predicament is to just stop your car and get out and do what i did by asking for their details saying you are going to put in a complaint about them, its is an offence for a police oficer to NOT give you his PC name as well as his number. If they dont want to give it to you then you wont have to worry about anything as they can hardly 'do you' for anything as there being dodgy themselves.

Also if u feel you havent dont anything wrong, always go and see the local sargent at yr police station, i have complained a few times about being followed and hassled by CID in unmarked cars, You can get a Blemish put on their record and if they get 2 in 2 yrs they get brought in front a board and disciplined.

Well worth it if you know your all legal and are purely getting hassled JUST because of the car you drive.

Hope this helps some ppl !!
