Well, it doesn't look like I can do anything with mine

Three options:

1) Always keep the ciggie cover open
2) Ram the cover shut (this does work but you get a slight kink on the right hand side where the torch is hitting the cover)
3) Put it in your 12v socket in your boot (theres nothing there anyway!)
3) Put it in your tool box and use it in case of emergencies/wheel replacements at night (its very bright!). This is what i'll probably do, plus you can charge it when you need it.

Doesn't fit a MK5 at all, unless you put it in the 12v boot socket of course...!

I think that's 4 options.

I've always regreted bunking that Nursery Maths lesson...

Its confirmed torch will fit 6n Polo SALOONS, 6n2 Polos and 9n Polos. However, the ciggie cover won't close on ANY of them if you have the torch in the socket 6n Saloons, 6n2 Polos and 9n Polos have the socket 1J0 919 309 which is the same as the MK4 Golf.
