Clutch is still heavy as ever after recall (you'd think you where driving a TVR, not a polo), noticed a couple of slight crunches going into reverse, so adjustment is going to be needed again. I think I'll get a new clutch cable fitted.
Throttle potentiometers where reset the car is less jerky in slow moving traffic.
Finally looks like I'll be getting my money back for paying for pedal box replacement when car was out of warranty

Just thought I'd mention that I had the pedal box replaced on mine on Fri and, having driven it a fair bit over the weekend, all seems well. The main difference from before it went in is that the clutch has a more definite biting point and it is much, much smoother at low speed & when you come off the gas suddenly in the lower gears...all good.

Haven't noticed any of the probs that I have read about on here so I am well pleased but I will be keeping an eye out in case any appear.

Oh...and they did a very good job of cleaning my alloys :P

30K service coming next week - fingers crossed it won't cost too much...!

Hey sinead,

Welcome :D

I think that all GTi owners were sent a letter regardless of their location in the UK, but I posted a transcript of said letter in case some owners didn't get one :-

SAFETY ACTION – VOLKSWAGEN POLO GTi
FOOT PEDAL SUPPORT

Dear Sir or Madam

The constant monitoring by Volkswagen AG of the production process and vehicles in service has established that on Polo GTi vehicles foot pedal supports have been fitted on which a fracture can occur in the area of the clutch pedal attachment. This affects the function of the clutch operation. In some cases gears cannot be changed any more.

For safety reasons, please arrange an appointment to have your vehicle examined by a Volkswagen retailer, taking this letter with you. The retailer will replace the foot pedal support. This work will be carried out without charge and take about two hours.

This request is made under the terms of the Code of Practice on Vehicle Safety Defects. The Code is monitored by the Department of Transport.

If you have any queries with this action please contact your Volkswagen retailer or telephone the campaign helpline 01908 601243. We apologise for any inconvenience that this cause and thank you for your co-operation in this important matter.

Yours faithfully,

Huw David Product Campaign Manager
Probably best to approach your local VW dealer and speak with them, but theres also a customer care line that was set up for the recall :-
morrismen wrote:If you want to raise your concerns over the VW GTI Pedal Box Recall, VW Customer Service are taking details on this to improve the service provided and to assist customers in getting their car back promptly.

Unfortunately, they have conceded that the work does take more than 1.9 hours and are amending the dealers work sheets on this recall appropriately with new work timings, so if you haven't had your pedal box replaced yet, then expect your car to be in for a day now for the work.

VW accept that the Pedal Clips and parts have not been available to complete the work promptly and are ensuring dealers they can call their dealer network parts ordering service to get parts shipped more quickly as many parts are on back order

If you want to raise your own concerns (the more the better to improve VW Pedal Box recall service), then call 0800 711811 and select option 3. You can then tell customer service what you think and they do make notes to improve the quality of this recall service, and to assist with your own car's recall service.
HTH!
