yup i've very often only been beaten by 10-20p and it annoys me because i would'nt have minded paying that little bit extra, i suppose its my fault for being a cheapskate :P

Errr.....

Well say its a 99p start

- you plug in £90 into ebay and there is a bit of auction activity you do win but you end up paying £85 as all the plonkers bid up your bid

Auction grabber - stick £90 in and let it do the rest - no bid to bid up so auction close to ending maybe on £2.50 and you chime in with you £90 in the dying seconds - you win it for whatever it takes to beat the highest proxy bid

Wrong - whilst you may only appear to be beaten by 10-20p it could in reality be £1,000,000 it depends on how much the winning bid was and you will never find that out - remember ebay proxy bids on your behalf

ever been tempted to bid £1,000,000 on some silly little thing that will never fetch that much (e.g. usb memory card reader, that sort of jobbie that will always go for the starting price) just to see if anything happens?
