100,000 miles a year? Bloody hell that must be tiring..

Let's say he does 70mph absolutely everywhere, which obviously he doesn't.. that's 1428.5 hours driving every year, which means 59.5 days worth of solid driving.. in a 1966 Volvo. That's gotta hurt..

Work it out on averages. How many has your car done on average, each year?

My car has just done a shade over 30k/year.

Oooh that Volvo...I was in and around East Patchogue last week! God I miss Long Island!

derby has averaged 3K/year (67K and 22 years old)
ranger has averaged 5K/year (91K and 19 years old)
GT has averaged 8K/year (115K and 14 years old)

heh i covered the average mileages in the "LOWEST" thread, not repeating it here...

just amazed at the volvo guy ... he had that from new, too? must have awfully comfy seats, of a style that probably aren't legal these days or something. like armchairs or the like.

but surely, even with the most comfortable seat in the world (and a full car so you have 3 co-pilots that can run on shifts) you would get incredibly, brain-rottingly bored after something like the millionth mile, though?!?!

doubt even truckers rack up as many miles...
(actually from the stories ive heard, if you want astro-miles or to become a member of a marque's million-mile club, avoid the cars, take to their trucks instead. an average truck engine is designed to last for seven figures simply because of the insane distances they rack up during a typical life cycle. That and, with some of the newest ones, an alleged ability to put down 45mpg at a constant 55mph... not sure if i credit that, but it sounds pretty alluring if true, as you can fit a whole house in the back and still get better motorway mileage than a mk2 with a dodgy pierburg)
