it is gona be rear wheel drive, when i said anything bigger would leave little front end grip i was talking bout the steering not the drive, it would have horrible understeer and thats why i wanted to keep the engine small.

shocks?? rich only mentioned springs but it'll be fine.
as for the gear linkage, i discussed it with bruce and he thought i could just reverse the direction of the change, the i could run a similar (to the one used for front engine) pipe onto the back of the gerarbox as per normal. but cable sounds a easier but more expensive??? but then that is a little way off yet.
as for no rice would make it but no transport at the mo as my only other vehicle is up on stands as i attempt to battle with the steering rack, but adam said he'd bring me along if i knew when it was, so can you let me know??

Ah, gotcha

My mistake, I understand what you're getting at now. Although.. surely weight will only start to detract from front end grip if it's placed behind the rear axle, porsche style? Don't really see how having extra weight between the two axles will detract from front end grip.

because vw designed the car with the engine in front of the front axle line hence front engined front wheel drive, most of the weight being over the front wheels by removing this and placing it else where changes the dynamics of the car dramatically especially during weight transfer.

Hmm, you need to chat to the Team Guru boys, they used a cable change box in their yellow derby for a reason, rod change can be a pin in the arse when the engine kicks back n stuff.
I presumed you weren't using the fk rear shocks? pop round tommorrow i'm in all day and we can chat.
no-rice is the second wednesday of every month at fleet services off the M3, i saw one of your housemates today trailering away an old toyota for banger racing, quality

Unfortunately not mate, i drove it hard on saturday and i've got the bug for the car again but there is a few things that are bugging me that i want to sort out so it's off of the road for a little while.
I'm on the process of buying a second house to rent and i'm re-shelling my 76k mile Gt lump soon so i'll be fairly busy over the next few months
