I think it depends what you want out of the car, if you want big power then go for it. I've done mine mainly for reliability.

I would say do it, i'm quite happy with mine it goes very nicely but it's not mapped yet so it should get even better :D

thanx for the replies, i'll probably go to no-rise as i have a friend who goes there pretty regularly. im definitly getting it for reliability, and then big power but i just want to check how long the exit pipe from the charger is as im currently transforming my square back GT to a mid engined G40.

seems like a LOT of work to be just utilising the G40 engine.

Could you not have something with a bit more easily acheivable poke?

You're at Brooklands College aren't you? Red GT with 14" Compos on it?

I've seen the car when visiting my younger bro - he's at Brooklands, lives on Rectory Lane. Your car was in the workshops when I had a look around. I've got a G40 squareback, but the engine's in the front.

im not bothered about the amount of work because its putting the engine where i want it and the G40 because it belongs in a polo, nething else would be too heavy, and i'd struggle with front end grip. The PY has good power to weight and good power per litre ,seems perfect to me

yes, when did you c it?? who's your brother?? does he have a red GT??
G40 squareback, now that is cool, my only regret is that i didnt use a mk2 shell for ease of lights and bumpers as i think they look better but its not looks that im after its the ultimate street sleeper im want!!

Forgive me if I've got the wrong end of the stick here, but if you're putting the engine in the middle of the car, why aren't you converting to rear wheel drive? Thought that was half the point of that setup? Just seems a bit strange to be putting the engine in the back of the car and having to run driveshafts up to the front wheels (surely just about as much effort as making up driveshafts for the rear wheels I would have thought), where it's harder to put the power down anyway..

Yeah, that's him - he's got a Mk1 Polo too. I saw your car on the street back in September when I drove down with my brother for him to move in. Last time I was over I think was just before Xmas, and your motor was in the workshops then.

Do you go to No Rice? Think there's a couple of lads from Brooklands that go - one of them had a mint red Mk2 Golf Driver, and another has a mint original 30k black G40.

easy mate, you live 2 mins walk from my house

pop round tomorrow after college and i'll chat to you, i need to buy those fk rear shocks off you as i know your not using them

saw car in workshop, looking good so far, i presume your gonna spaceframe the whole thing and then run the drivetrain from the front and transfer it into the back, one tip don't use rod change as its a pain in the arse hole, use a cable change box.

aneways pop down, 74 rectory lane, i'm usually out back working on one car or another.
