Golf VR6 brakes seem to be the most popular choice, 4-stud setup obviously, from the earlier cars. Then you would have 280mm brakes and a far wider range of disc and pads to choose from :)

Golf VR6 were always 5 stud?
You could use 280mm Golf caliper carriers, but the discs would need to come from a G60.

Unless I'm wrong that is?

You need G60 carriers and G60 brakes! Early rados have 4 stud!!

I thought VR6 brakes were the 288mm set up as they normally upgrade to the tt 312ish size!!

To be honest Ibiza brembos would be my choice as these fit onto the olops easy but then you'd need 16's with 35-38 offset to clear the monster calipers!!

Anywho awesome lil car you have!! is that the standard inlet manifold??

The very early MK3 Golf VR6s (on a J plate I beleave) did have 4 stud hubs and 280mm brakes and you can use the carriers off them for a 280mm conversion on the Polo it is of course easier just to get G60 ones.

Thanks :D
Yes - that is standard inlet manifold, but manifold had polished pipe. Engine was worked for new pistons and billet rods.

Thanks to everyone for comments :P

Hello again :)

I'm just after upgrade my front brakes.

1. My old GTi brake disc (256mm)

2. New EBC brake disc - turbo groove (280mm). Carriers are from G60 and pads from Polo GTi.

3. New EBC brake pad - Red Stuff

This car is a true masterpiece. You've built an absolute amazing vehicle and i'm very jealous!

Was the car originally a gti? Only, as stated, the front bumper is different, there is no climate control (I know not all of them had it, but you'd think in poland they would) and there's a headlight adjuster in the car. Yet the law on discharge headlights (well in the uk) is that it must be auto adjusting and have washers...

Hi vdubit. I bought this car in Germany in 2001, when Polo was 1 year and this is original GTi.

It's not a headlight adjuster mate, that's the dimmer for the dash lights.

Plus don't forget, the laws in Europe are no doubt different to over here
