I'm guessing by it being a K&N, it was pretty expensive?

An induction kit yes, a replacement panel filter no.

I'm confused, are you saying i SHOULD declare an induction kit, but i SHOULDNT declare a new panel filter?

What exactly are you planning on doing? If you're just replacing the normal filter I wouldn't bother informing insurance because it's a direct replacement.
