Email the seller and ask why. I got both the key and ignition barrel.. did not have to get VW to touch the car at all.Dee-vub wrote:Randy, i was given the key but NOT the ignition barrel! Thats not much help eh!! Anyways, i'v got my original key and the GTI key. I'v bought a blank blade so i am going to get that cut to the shape of the 8v key and coded the same as the GTI key! bloody annoying he never gave me the ignition barrel!! Wouldnt pose a problem! I also have to get the car trailored to VW to get the coding done which is costing me £35 + VAT.
Dont pay to get it on a trailer, keep the key in and turned so steering doesnt lock and get it towed to the garage.. take your front bumper off so as not to damage the lip and also so you can get to the towing eye thing (whatever its called) easier and then just get a mate to town you with rope. Save you money!
Disconnect your battery, take it to a local garage and get them to test it. Although it may be fully charged you may have a dead cell just like i did. Battery is fuc*ed if it has a dead cell. You dont need a more powerful battery even if you have the new engine and might have subs etc, just buy the same battery. I got mine from a scrappy for £12.50!Dee-vub wrote:One more thing......my battery has gone totally flat, any idea why?? I'm going to charge her up over night and then see what happens. I dont think i'd left lights on or anything so doubt its that.
