i have the same dilemna as you right now but my friend is an aircon engineer and he uses some small plastic tab type things that get nailed into the wooden joists and have a small slit cut out for a cable tie to run through.

they look like these and are called cable tie mounts:

You see if you cable tied this to your grill on the bumper...with the sqaure base showing, you could then fix some velcro tabs to the bases and fix your plate on without making any holes at all!

That's exactly the idea I was on about. The tricky part would be tightening the cable ties sufficiently so that the plate wasn't squint on the grille

Have a look at mine at the Polo Show Mouse, it's a bit fiddly but I only take it off and put it on for shows so it's not like I do it every week :D

My cable ties near on match the colour of the plate as well so don't spoil the look.
