Hi Mate, just to give you an idea...
My car was doing a similar thing - whether it was hot or cold i'd be driving normally in low revs in a 30mph or watever.... then it would jolt a bit and then limit my revs to 5000 revs.
Turns out that my "speed sensor" had gone - i got a new sensor at a cost of around £60 and i also put some new sparkplugs in. this completley resolved the problem.

Hmm its strange.
I've spent about £500 trying to get mine sorted at a VW specialist.
Mine gives cam speed sensor warning and something else.
The Garage told me the VVT actuator was not being switched on by the ECU. They ran a line from the VVT to a switch and manually switched the VVT on - this makes the car go fast again, BUT it runs like crap at low revs.
I bought a cable from ebay and I'm getting vagcom next week. I think I might need to take it into the stealers...
