Yeah good luck getting it sorted Andy. I had a similar issue with my car relating to the gearbox though, in the end had to pay a "reduced rate" which was agree'd by the refurb place and myself, instead of the full whack to get it sorted. So all is not lost, but I was prepared to pay that little be extra to get my car back quicker (as I use it for work).

As for the "VW Tech" - bbspolo..fair play for identifying what seemed to be the problem. Good knowledge, although grilling someone who is asking for an opinion isn't the most mature thing ever. I grasp what you are trying to say, but its not like he named and shamed the garage or anything.

Hope it gets sorted Andy. I'm in a similar but not so worse problem as you now.

My clutch has never been quite right since getting it replaced, every now and then it gets really kinda stiff and crunchy, like the cable gets caught on something maybe? Thought I'd wait til I get my camber and tracking done on Friday and mention it to the guy then. But the otherday my release bearing started whining again :( , something's up.

not happy about this at all

hes replaced a driveshaft seal where the leak was and put "thicker oil in it to quieten it down". so the box now has thicker stuff in than what VW reccommend, it is a lot quiter but i can still hear some feint whining that definately wasnt there before. Surely this isnt the point though, it almost seems like the old sawdust trick?

am i within my rights to kick up a bit of a fuss now?

Take it somehwere else for a second oppinion. Tell them exactly what has happened, and to see if there is any damage which the first garage may (and probably) have caused.
