Thanks guys much appreciated!, nigel i went for some budget J.O.M coilies, were 260 all in all- i was on a tight budget at the time!

Been toying with the idea of a brake upgrade recentely, heard mixed feelings of the difference between standard and g60 brakes....

Well it's stiffly sprung that's for sure! To be honest mine tends to understeer abit too much for my liking... how about yours?

On their own they're more of a 'for show' mod, rather than an increase in brake performance.

Looks awesome Joe, the black with chrome lip on the RXII's looks stunning on a Black GTI 8)

What exhaust system have you got on there now then? am I right in saying that's Mongoose Back Box?

Thanks alot mate! When i touched up the calipers it set the wheels off even nicer.. The exhaust is long life cat back :) she pops like you would not belive!!

also managed to fix the blasted window reg clips which snapped after shutting the door with the window down- what a silly design!! I had the brakes smoking last night.. got abit a battering but abit dissapointed with the performance nonetheless..

God Stuff, looking forward to getting my exhaust done next.

I got it MOT'd last week so i'm going for a full de-cat exhaust system mounted to my Raceland Manifold, should sound sweet when done.

Do you know what brand of exhaust you have? I am looking for a similar system but their are not many available for the 6N2 GTI.
I was thinking of getting a custom Power Flow exhaust but ideally want my manifold done at the same time which will cost me a small fortune in fitting.

Not entirley sure of the actual brand other than long life! the back box is ridiculously small though!

Gonna start the engine bay this weekend i think :) along the line of what Tim did but wth some alterations :-) good thing is i still have all the old engine pieces from my old gti such as washer fluid bottle, engine cover etc so i cant still drive it between paint coats drying etc

Well it's been a few weeks since the last one, so heres what i've been up to recentley....

Second half of detail using Menzerna final finish polish, i'll let theses pictures do the talking... ( haven't edited any of these) looks half decent even with a crappy iphone camera. will get some half decent ones when i get the SLR back...

And then i've been detailing the engine bay, was thinking of doing this on my last GTI last year, but never got round to it. I thought Tim's look so sweet that i followed a similar colour co-ordination, except mine lacks the BMC, but sits nicley with the OEM filter.

My process was the follwoing: ( luckily i still had various engine parts from my old GTI left over so could take my time and not take the existing ones of my car and not be able to drive it...)

1) degrease entire engine
2) sand down all to-be-painted parts with p140
3) wet p1200 for silky smooth finish
4) two coats of grey primer
5) wet p1200
6) several coats of respective satin black and high temp red spary paint with wet p1200 inbetween
7) two coats of gloss laquer

Parts sprayed were:

1) coolant tank
2) coolant lid
3) washer fluid tank
4) washer fluid lid
5) airbox
6) engine cover
7) heat shield ( looks abit gash though....)
8) rocker cover
9)power sterring tank cap
10) brake fluid cap

Had a few niggles along the way, it was late in the day and i ran out of satin, so i thought i'd used the rest of my satin hammorite kicking around. Being Enamel it reacted with the paint already on the parts and ruined the entire finish. had to completely paint strip and start from scratch

Looking good mate, some serious elbow grease has been put in there.

Paint work & Engine bay look immaculate, top job! 8)

What diameter tail pipes are they? 2.5" or 3"

Looks great... you may have just convinced me that black is the correct colour for the GTI rather than red
