I used to have Ring ones on mine, but they rusted quickly.
If you fit non-standard lamps you'll want standard ones eventually, my advice is just save up and get VAG ones in the first place.

Yeah, that's why I underlined the word spots, cause the standard VAG ones are fog lamps, which don't have a very long range.
I did see some ring ones which nearly fit in halfrauds, but they were just slightly the wrong size and I decided it would look like a bodge.
Hopefully uprating the wiring will give my headlights a decent range!!

My Ring lamps were spots, not fogs.
Got HID foglight bulbs in standard VAG foglights, works ok but I think I'm gonna uprate the loom and see what that does.

Yeah, sorry - I was talking about the VAG fogs. Wouldn't say no to a set, but only for the right price!!
ie - not 100 quid or whatever they cost new!!

I paid £15 for mine
They are pricey though new, even when they're "cheap" on show specials.
I'm told BMW 3 series ones fit, if that helps.

Hmm, interesting... I'll definitely look into that one. Can probably get them from GSF!!
*Yes you can - 65 quid +VAT. Still, I'm sure I could get some off ebay.

Yeah the main advantage is you'll have a better chance of finding BMW fogs/spots in a scrapyard than Mk3 Polo ones.
Let me know if they fit, I'll update my guide on the Club Polo website then

e30 or e36...?

e30 or e36 BMW? Reason i ask is... the e30 is my main love before the little Polio & i still have an e30 325iSE rotting away in the garage as an unfinnished project
I still have the frong spot/fog lamps aswell, so could be tempted to have a look & see what i can post up here about it
Cheers.

Please do!!
I only saw one on ebay that looked roughly the right shape, and that was from an e30.
I can't remember the measurement for the Mk3 cutout exactly, but 155x95 comes into my head.
Maybe if you have access to both you could do a comparison??

spots which are a perfect fit for the standard mk3 fog aperture, then i'd be interested!!
10 inch spots bolted to my bumper aren't my thing tho!!

mine are only 9"
they aint working tog reat atm as the alternator is slowly dieing

why would ya put long range headlights in the foglights position mate? s'just begging for trouble (the angle you'd have to put on em for starters, have to be very finely tuned to get range without blinding everyone). why not get a proper vw spotlight grille?

I'd have them linked to main beam, but you're right, the angle is much more exagerated than I realised. Maybe I don't need them!!
I'm hoping that uprating the wiring will give me all the light I need in both main and dipped beam anyway!!

oh thats fair enough then
sorry i was worried you were headed down the wideboy sidelights-and-blinding-foglamps ring road grand prix route!
