I'm seriously giving thought to selling it......
It's been jumped on and walked over
It's been broken into and had the dash damaged in the process of pinching the tunes
Now
It's been pranged
I'm terrified if I leave it unattended anywhere the wheels will go walkies or I'll loose another stereo - I have several other cars and none of them attract the same amount of attention that the Polo does - even the lotus i can park anywhere and know it will still be exactly as I left it when I return
I don't know - I reckon one more "thing/incident" will send me over the edge

they say mk4 and mk5 polos are dead easy to break into
something thats got me thinking before
but when they nicked my radio, they just smashed a window
nowt clever bout that
unlucky mate
i hear your "why does the polo get so much attention?" thing
mines been kicked (yes kicked) while i was driving past a drunk crowd, so thats one dent to my front wing, its been broken into, its been backed into, its had trollies pushed into it and it got stood on.

That reminds me of the Peugeot adverts

That's really not right.. if I crashed someone else's car the first thing I'd do is be on the phone apologising and offering to pay for it to be repaired, I certainly wouldn't just take it straight off to the nearest bodyshop and not say a word about it, hoping no one would notice.. especially if the person I borrowed it from was seriously into his cars and likely to notice the slightest bit out of place, that's really just not on..
I think maybe it's just a thing about white polos attracting attention from lowlives.. mine's had it's arial snapped, it's lock keyed, window smashed, dashboard broken, radio stolen, people standing on the bonnet.. the other day I walked into a carpark and saw some **** throwing someone into it (that certain someone then recieved a bucket full of verbal abuse..), along with evidence of some very badly repaired front end damage at some point.. to be honest though, I think it's just luck with cars like this. With something like the lotus you're not going to get people being quite so stupid because it's clear that it's something special, even if it's not the most outrageous looking sports car ever.. whereas polos are mass produced and mass bought, and if you have the intelligence of a gnat I guess you just can't tell that someone actually gives a damn about it..

I totally agree with you Groovy - Yes I am a bit anal about my cars and it appears he now knows just how anal
Anyway it came home tonight - damage repaired (ish)
New jobs now added to the list
- Purchase new front valance to replace the badly scuffed one currently fitted (it was new 5 mths ago

least it's cheap at £24)
- Strip passenger side bumper vent trims out to remove all the overspray now blatently visible
- Clean all overspray of the nearside Splitty
- Clean all overspray of the plastic wheel arch liner
All need to be done by Sunday

not much chance of that
As for the colour match - well it is white is the best compliment I can pay
But perhaps I'm a bit fussy

Ah well, never mind.. as long as it's all pretty minor stuff - none of us will probably notice on sunday

So, do you know what actually happened now?

Aledgedly - he hit a cone (plastic things that line roadworks) but it got trapped under the spoiler and kinda twatted about a bit in a flailling manner trying to get free - I have to accept that explaination but I've vever seen a cone gouge strips out of a valance so perhaps i'll never know!

he hit a cone and it caused enough damage to warrant taking to a body shop?
would it be uncouth of me to call "bullsh*t"?
and i know exactly where the two of you are coming on the anal unlikely-car-love front
(white overspray on white paint... that'll just T-cut out wont it?

)
